Bodoni
Age: 50. Profession: Village blacksmith. Family: wife (Dorinia, 38), eldest son (Radegard, 20), middle son (Garrett, 18), youngest son (Joseph, 16 - see below). Appearance: thinning hair, brown eye. In fact, only one eye, with a patch over the other. Healthy paunch from too much ale. Hair is thinning, but his beard is as thick as ever. Bodoni has been known to win village eating contests during harvest festivals.
Caralchis
Age: 32. Profession: Farmer. Family: none. Appearance: greying dark hair, blue-grey eyes, 5'9", 145 pounds. Missing little finger of left hand. Ex-mercenary who has seen much fighting and appears somewhat haunted by it. A good friend of Garomach's. Caralchis is obviously well-versed and has a flair for poetry, but he rarely holds forth on any subject.
Corin
Age: 15. Profession: Undecided. Family: mother (Margis, 35). Appearance: long black hair, dark-brown eyes, slight, athletic stature. Corin's father, who died a year ago of disease, was a Hun, and this ancestry is obvious in Corin's features. He still lives at home, but he is straining at the bit to get out and see the world.
Johan
Age: 19. Profession: Pig farmer. Family: brother (Renard, see below). Appearance: A large young vibrant young man with ruddy brown hair and brown eyes. His 5'8, 190 lb stature shows a healthy diet and a life of manual labor. His Southern European features show clearly past his dirty, unkempt manner. He wears a leather torso piece and helmet and carries a small backpack. His only apparant weapon would be the enormous hammer strapped to his back. Despite his immediate appearance, his mannerisms reveal a warm, inviting soul.
Renard
Age: 21. Profession: Pig farmer. Family: brother (Johan, see above). Appearance: A sturdy (5'6), sinewy man with a gruff demeanor, around 30 years of age, who moves with precision and strength. Unusually for a Romanized Gaul, he wears a thick moustache. He is well-known in Praesus as an honest and reliable man, older brother to Johan, of whom he is quite protective.
Joseph
Age: 16. Profession: Undecided. Family: father (Bodoni, 50 - see above), mother (Dorinia, 38), older brothers (Radegard, 20, and Garrett, 18). Appearance: dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, taller than average. Joseph is never going to follow in his father's footsteps, although he has learned the smithing trade to some degree. His 3rd-banana status has led him to the Church. Joseph was educated at the St. Vincent monastery (a few miles from Praesus) and is considering joining it full-time. But most people know that, while he appreciates the knowledge gained there and has friends there, he has not the patience for the monastic life and craves adventure.
Baron Garomach
Age: 31. Profession: Baron of Praesus. Family: unknown. Appearance: medium-length blond hair and beard, grey eyes, large, muscular build. Garomach is strikingly handsome, as Teutons go. It is well known that Garomach won the barony of Praesus by an act of valor while fighting for King Clovis, but he never speaks of this. Garomach's left arm was badly injured in a battle at some point, and is essentially useless now. He has been a good baron so far - no overtaxing or judicial abuse. His closest aide is the ex-mercenary Caralchis.
Father Theudar
Age: 60-ish. Profession: Monk. Family: unknown. Appearance: Bald, blue eyes, slight build. Theudar is a monk at the St. Vincent monastery, about 6 miles north of Praesus. He took a liking to Joseph while he was studying at St. Vincent's, and has taken him under his wing as a protege. Theudar enjoys composing church chants, and is always trying to convince people to perform them at village festivals and Catholic feastdays.
Baron Faiseric
Age: Late 40s. Profession: Baron of Benecortum. Family: wife (Rasilde, mid 30s), daughter (Faisilde, 16, deceased), daughter (Teresa, 9). Appearance: Hearty, ruddy complexion, steely grey eyes; full blond beard and and unkempt blond mane on his head with no sign of thinning. Faiseric is the elder statesman of the area and takes a leadership role over the other ruling Franks of the area. He recently lost his daughter Faisilde to the witch Miraguntha (see below).
Miraguntha (deceased)
Age: seemed quite old, but unknown. Profession: presumed witch. Family: unknown except for an alleged daughter residing in Tolosa. Appearance: Grey hair falling out in patches; pale skin, paper-thin and wrinkled with age; upright posture. Miraguntha somehow kidnapped Faisilde and attempted to use her in a human sacrifice for some purpose. The purpose appears to have been averted, but Faisilde died during the rescue.
